 1.I have my own flight license. Can I request a user account in AMA?

If you have your own flight license you are an aviation user (legal note) and you can register from the "Create Account" link shown on the home page of the site www.ama.aemet.es

 

 2.I am a pilot student and I still do not have my own flight license. Could I register on the AMA website?

The AMA is restricted to aeronautical users (legal note). If you do not have the flight license, you cannot register. One possibility would be for your flight school to register as a company and allow you to use their account.

 

 3.I need aeronautical historical data. Where can I find them?

AMA is not a database and does not save historical data. You must formally request this information at:

 

 

 4.Do I need any additional software to access AMA?

No, you don't need additional software to access or use AMA in addition to your browser. AMA has been certified for the following Web browsers:
  • Internet Explorer 11
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Google Chrome
  • Chrome Mobile
  • Safari
  • Safari Mobile

The only requirement of the application is to have cookies enabled without restrictions for the site ama.aemet.es. Firefox and Safari browsers show how this is done in the following links:

Also, remember that you should only access AMA from the url ama.aemet.es and not from another old one.

 

5. What information can I obtain by using the route generation option?

Route generation allows you to retrieve information about specified airports in the data entry form and from "FIR areas" affected by the route. Following information will be shown:
  • METAR / TAF / Aerodrome warnings
  • Area warnings
  • Ash and tropical cyclons warnings
  • Aeronautical charts

6. How can I obtain specific weather information of an airport?

By using the menu option Charts and aeronautical messages you can retrieve the following information from an airport reference:

  • Aeronautical charts
  • METAR, TAF and warnings
  • SIGMET
  • GAMET and AIRMET
  • Ash and tropical cyclones SIGMET
  • Ash warnings
  • AIREP
  • Product map
  • Spanish airport search

7. What any other weather information can I obtain?

Besides the Charts and aeronautical messages and Route generation options, the menu option Satellite, radar and lightning offers the following weather products:
  • Cloud top
  • Hight resolution visible
  • Infrared
  • Water vapor
  • High resolution winds
  • Cloud type
  • Meteorological radar
  • Lightning
  • Worldwide satellites images

Aeronautical climatology section shows aeronautical climatology of every national airport.

 

8. How can I retrieve a common search?

Through the last searches functionality you can access the last 10 queries made. The Route generation and Charts and aeronautical messages functionalities allow you to save a search for later retrieval.

 

9. I would like to update mi email address. What should I do?

The option My account allows you to modify your personal data.

 

10. I have renewed my pilot license. Where do I indicate it in the system?

Like the email address you must do it in My account. You must indicate both the type of license and its period of validity.

 

11. If I do not see the map of the "home" menu. What might it be due to?

For the application to work and the maps to display correctly, port 8090 must be open. If you access AMA from a local business network, please consult your administrator in case you detect this problem.

 

12. I forgot my username or password. How should I proceed?

For recovering your login credentials you should use the link "I forgot my password" from login form. Enter the email address that you used to setup your account and an email will be sent with your user code and a reset password link. For security reasons, a verification code will be request to complete the process.
